3.4 Creating a Postcard

For this assignment, you will be creating a postcard for the area where you live, while building on work you have done in previous sections. You will start by looking at the example postcard below. To see a larger image, open the file at the bottom of the assignment. 

Assignment criteria

• You will use the nature photo which you took for assignment 3.3
• It will need to measure 908 x1308 pixels which is a standard size for a postcard. 
• You will need to use two different fonts as in the example. 
• You will use your colour palette from 3.3 within your font. Notice how green, white and blue are used in the font in the example. 
• Be aware of contrast and placement. Notice in the example how the font is placed on a clouded area and how it is outlined to provide contrast. 
• Consider the size of the font. It should be legible but should not obscure any necessary detail in your image. 
• You might consider using a border, but that is not required. 

Write an artist's statement in which you explain your choices.
