Record a Monologue
RECORD A MONOLOGUE
For this assignment, you’ll rehearse and record a monologue. Then, you’ll write a self-critique and finally give yourself a score using the rubric.
When recording your monologue, you should perform in one of two settings: A space that effectively communicates/matches the scene for your script, or a space that is totally neutral, with no identifying objects or markings. Either of these settings will be a good choice.
For example, if your chosen monologue is set in a scientist’s laboratory, then you should not record your monologue in a kitchen. Instead, find an actual laboratory OR a neutral space, like a blank wall.
Choose from these two monologues. There will be more options in the next assignment.
When you're done, access the self assessment doc. When it's complete, you should turn it in with your performance.
CRITERIA:
- Setting is appropriate for the monologue (or neutral)
- You can be clearly seen and heard
- You have either memorized the monologue OR it cannot be seen that you are reading
- You utilize the actor’s tools: voice, face, body
